Watch Out World!

Imagine you’re invited to a house you’ve never been to before.  The host meets you at the door and escorts you to the living room, with its polished furnishings and the latest magazines scattered just so across the coffee table.  You sink into the immaculate cushions of the couch and look around at the tasteful artwork on the walls.  Everything is in its place, all the pictures hanging straight, not a speck of dust to be seen.  If you’re like me, you wonder what’s through the darkened doorway off to the side, the doorway that leads to the rest of the house.  Maybe you want to get up and poke around, find out what’s under the surface of perfection.  Maybe you even want to sneak up to the attic or down to the cellar and let loose a few bats and skeletons to wreak havoc.  If you’re shaking your head, that no, you would never do such terrible things, then quit reading now.   My story won’t be your cup of tea.  However, if you’re nodding, that yes, you don’t mind a few cobwebs and in fact, even enjoy the occasional bat, then please continue.  You, dear reader, have a true taste for the gothic.
